It seems nobody wants the
White Stick award this year! Muñiz Fernández had it for the
taking, only needing five cards to beat Pérez Lasa in the grudge match
between Barcelona and Celta, something he normally manages before half time.
But even though there was a massive bust up between players, he only managed
two cards, albeit they were both red. That leaves Pérez Lasa in first
place pending this weekend's cup final, where Iturralde González should
be man enough to produce four cards and take the trophy. (25.06.03)
P.S. As expected, Itturalde
Gónzalez pinched it with six yellow cards in the cup final. Rated one of
the best referees in the league, his top spot was a bit of a surprise. He did
however officiate in more games than anyone else, and his average of 5.96 cards
per game was well below Pérez Lasa's 7.28. But them's the rules!
