When the luck is going
against you nothing works out right, as Real Sociedad and Espanyol can bear
witness. Real have had three goals disallowed in three games, two from
Kovacevic and one from Karpin, and recent results could have been different had
they been allowed. This weekend it was González Vázquez who did
the dirty deed against the Serbian striker, and he also saw nothing wrong with
Betis's third goal later in the game despite the fact that Dani was in an
offside position during the play.
Espanyol were back in the
news again for the umpteenth time, and the club is even threatening of pulling
out of the competition after another bad decision went against them. It all
happened in the fifth minute when Tamudo was clearly tripped as he rounded
Burgos just outside of the area, but not only did Undiano Mallenco not send off
the keeper, he didn't even give a foul. He did make up for it later on though,
letting the Catalans off some hard tackles on Fernando Torres. (08.12.03)
