Téllez Sánchez
opened a gap on his rivals this week with ten yellow cards and two reds, both
of which were for Albacete players (see Villains section). Albacete manager
César Ferrando was livid, and maybe shouldn't have taken the microphone
after the match ended, as his comments that the referee was "a flute player"
may get him into trouble (don't ask us to explain why). Elsewhere Teixeira
Vitienes was not the most popular person with the Real Murcia staff, and in
particular their forward Luis García, who was making his return to the
Bernabeu stadium on loan for his new side. The referee turned down three
penalty appeals, all of which were borderline to say the least, and also showed
a fifth yellow card to García which will keep him out of the next match.
Finally a mention for Pino Zamorano, or more specifically for the Valladolid
crowd, who pointed out the perpetrator to the police when Pino's linesman was
hit in the back by a plastic bottle full of a popular cola drink (we're not
allowed to say the brand name) thrown from the crowd. Hopefully their action
will prevent a big fine. (06.01.04) |
