No complaints from Valencia
this weekend, but nobody really expected club president Jaime Ortí or
anyone else to speak out after Esquinas Torres awarded them two penalties in
the first twenty minutes, and then sent off the opposing captain Mauro Silva
with over three quarters of the game against Deportivo still to go. The first
penalty at least was non existent, Romero bringing down Vicente outside of the
area, and although they missed that one they did take the lead from the second
kick a few minutes later. Valencia had been very upset about recent decisions
against them, but as we have always said, it all evens out over a long season.
Elsewhere Rubinos Pérez upset both Zaragoza and Málaga after
refusing to give up to four possible penalties, and after we had all got used
to the idea that any contact in the area would give rise to a spot kick, the
whole issue is now back in doubt. (09.03.04) |
