Referees (sum total of red
and yellow cards).
Poor old Losantos Omar drew
the short straw on the last weekend of the season, the normally relaxed referee
having to take charge of the game between Sevilla and Osasuna. As reported on
our villains page, the match descended into a free for all, and Losantos ended
the day showing twelve yellows and four reds, which some say was less than he
could have done. Otherwise though it was relatively quiet, with Mejuto
González and (would you believe it) Tristante Oliva failing to book
anyone at all and Megia Dávila doing enough to wrap up the white stick
award for this season, a prize at last having finished runner up twice in the
last three years. There was some fun and games though in the second division
this weekend, Rodado Rodríguez having to be given a police escort to
save him from 3,000 angry Sporting fans, who had travelled to Eibar to watch
their side and had not been excessively happy that the referee sent off three
of their players and awarded two dubious penalties against them. It was over an
hour before he could leave the ground safely. (25.05.04) |
