Once again Spanish football
has been tainted by racist insults, this time by a small but unsavoury bunch of
neanderthals who populate the terraces at Getafe. Daudén
Ibáñez momentarily stopped the game against Barcelona after he
heard chants against Eto'o, and asked for an announcement to be made over the
loud speakers for them to stop. Last season there were several incidents of
this nature, but after a wave of protests both within and outside Spain the
problem appeared to have gone away. It seems though that that is not totally
the case, and the club (who have in the past taken steps to try and cut this
out) could be fined again.
Apart from that though it
was another quiet weekend, with very few incidents of note. And it would have
been even quieter had Muñiz Fernández not awarded two penalties
to Real Madrid in three minutes late in the second half of their match against
Zaragoza. Visiting coach Víctor Muñoz complained that the first
was dubious and that Muñiz couldn't have seen the second as he was on
the half way line at the time, and that something was wrong as they had had
five penalties against them already this season. But the referee's decision is
what counts, and although César saved the first from Robinho, Roberto
Carlos blasted the second past his ex colleague to win the match. (08.11.05)
