Pérez Lasa was the
man in the headlines this weekend after missing one of the most obvious hand
balls since Maradonna's infamous goal against England in the 1986 World Cup.
Cádiz striker Alexander Medina jumped up to fist the ball down past the
keeper and in to the net in the first half of the match at Málaga, but
neither Pérez nor his linesmen saw the incident (the only two people in
the stadium who didn't!). The referee further upset the fans when he sent off
new signing Antonio López for a second bookable offence after giving him
a first yellow card whilst still on the bench, and he had to scurry off the
pitch under a police escort as a rain of objects hailed down at the end.
