González
Vázquez is the first referee to pass the 100 card mark this season after
dishing out ten bookings in the cup match between Betis and Real Madrid. He
didn't spot though Cassano's little nudge on Doblas before the Italian striker
got his first goal for the club, and a little old man with yellow trousers and
keys dangling from his pocket got so upset that he waddled on to the pitch and
gave the linesman a ticking off before being gently led away.
It was not a good week
either for Iturralde González, who was in charge of two matches in three
days. He started off leaving Deportivo with ten men in the cup before awarding
the Galicians a more than dubious penalty, some say for a tug on Capdevila's
shirt by Carboni (although it could have been anything). And he then upset the
Zaragoza fans on Saturday turning down two penalty appeals by the home side for
hands, but awarding one to visitors Atlético which ensured the three
points for Pepe Murcia's side. It didn't all go the same way though, a strike
by Fernando Torres later on being ruled out for a non existent offside.
