Rodríguez Santiago
incurred the wrath of the Catalan and Brazilian nations this week when he sent
off Barcelona's Ronaldinho in their cup tie against Zaragoza. The Brazilian
star is treated as something of a deity by the doting fans, and this image was
strengthened by the fact that even the Archbishop of Barcelona joined in the
protests!
And Rodríguez was in
the news again at the weekend for disallowing a last minute goal which would
have given Cádiz a much needed win at Villarreal, although to be fair to
him it wasn't really his fault this time. The man who made the decision was non
other than Rafa Guerrero, one of the most famous linesmen in football, who as
our frequent readers will know has even featured in television adverts.
Guerrero is imagined to have
super powers which enable him to sees things others don't, and he surprised
everyone raising his flag when Medina chested the ball over the line, claiming
that he had used his hands. The curious thing is that Medina did quite clearly
get away with using his fist to score an important goal a couple of weeks ago,
but this time television pictures confirmed that his extremities were well
clear of the ball. Could it be that Don Rafa can also see into the past?
