Some dubious decisions by
Medina Cantalejo in the cup tie between Espanyol and Deportivo, although in the
end things evened themselves out. When he blew his whistle early on after
Arizmendi fell theatrically in the area under a challenge from Lopo, everybody
expected him to get out a card (probably one showing 5.9 for the dive!), but to
everyone's astonishment he pointed to the spot. But maybe because he saw the
half time video, Medina gave an equally dubious penalty to Espanyol when the
ball hit Andrade on the arm at point blank range, and he was also taken in by
another piece of histrionics later on, sending off Coloccini rather harshly for
leaving a foot in when he tackled Jofre, who rolled around in supposed agony
before getting up and playing on as if nothing had happened once the red card
had been shown. (14.02.06) |
