Our old friend Megía
Dávila was in the news again at the weekend after sending off Valencia's
David Silva in the match at Sevilla. Neither the referee nor his assistants saw
Daniel Alves elbow Silva in the face with less than a minute on the clock. But
Megía did see the young winger lash out a retaliatory elbow a quarter of
an hour later, and Silva was off. The Chés lost the game 3-0, and
afterwards the Valencia management said they would be considering whether to
ask the RFEF to ban the referee from taking charge of their matches. The
official upset the club last season remember after halting the quarter final
cup tie against Deportivo when one of his linesmen was hit by a coin thrown
from the crowd. However Megía said that he could only go on what he sees
on the pitch, had nothing against Valencia, and would have no problems
returning to the Mestalla stadium in the future. (21.11.06) |
