Pérez Lasa mistakenly
sent off Real Madrid's Cannavaro for a second yellow card after he and his
officials ruled that the Italian defender had handled the ball in the area.
Television pictures showed though that the ball had hit the new "Balon de Oro"
winner in the face, and the indignant player left the field pointing at the red
mark around his eye.
Elsewhere both Depor and
Athletic were not happy with Alvarez Izquierdo after the rookie referee turned
down a penalty appeal for a hand ball by Casas and then let Juanma off a red
card (although the defender did get his marching orders in the end), and
Recreativo were upset (again) when Mejuto González awarded a more than
dubious penalty against them after Sevilla's Antonio Puerta fell rather too
easily under Merino's challenge. And Pino Zamorano booked Nàstic
substitute Rubén Castro for that most heinous of crimes, wearing a ring
when told not to. Naughty boy! (19.12.06) |
