No doubt about the
refereeing decision which caused most controversy last weekend. Daudén
Ibáñez caused quite a stir ruling out Perea's goal in the derby
game between Atlético and Real Madrid for a non existent offside, at the
same time waving away appeals for a penalty on Kun Agüero. Atlético
were already one up at the time, and Real came back after that to level the
scores. Daudén admitted afterwards after seeing TV replays that he was
wrong, but from the angles that he and his linesman were at at the time it
appeared that a local forward had touched Antonio López's free kick
before it came back off the post, thereby placing Perea in an offside position.
