A lot of complaints about
referees this week, some justified, some not. Fernández Borbolán
upset Levante's Abel Resino to such an extent that the coach eventually earned
himself a red card, following Riga down the tunnel after the midfielder was
sent off for wearing a gold chain (see villains section for more). Abel also
felt that his side should have been awarded a penalty when Tomassi was fouled
in the dying minutes, and also didn't agree with the decision to disallow a
goal by Tomassi for a previous hand ball by Salva. The three Pérezes,
Burrull (Celta v Real Madrid, 13 yellows, 1 red), Lasa (Atlético v
Mallorca, 11,1) and Lima (Getafe v Zaragoza, 7,1) also got a bit of stick for
some of their decisions. (03.04.07)
PS. Just for the record, the
76 yellow cards and six reds was the highest card tally of the season to date.
