White Stick Awards

A lot of complaints about referees this week, some justified, some not. Fernández Borbolán upset Levante's Abel Resino to such an extent that the coach eventually earned himself a red card, following Riga down the tunnel after the midfielder was sent off for wearing a gold chain (see villains section for more). Abel also felt that his side should have been awarded a penalty when Tomassi was fouled in the dying minutes, and also didn't agree with the decision to disallow a goal by Tomassi for a previous hand ball by Salva. The three Pérezes, Burrull (Celta v Real Madrid, 13 yellows, 1 red), Lasa (Atlético v Mallorca, 11,1) and Lima (Getafe v Zaragoza, 7,1) also got a bit of stick for some of their decisions. PS. Just for the record, the 76 yellow cards and six reds was the highest card tally of the season to date.
