Pérez Burrull got his
share of the headlines this weekend after producing nine yellow and four red
cards in the match between Real Madrid and Sevilla. The yellows to Beckham and
Chevantón for a tussle in penalty area meant that both will be banned,
meaning that five players and the Sevilla team doctor will all be absent for
the upcoming matches. Pérez was also criticised by the Real Madrid camp
for failing to spot a penalty by Kanouté on Sergio Ramos.
Elsewhere Rubinos
Pérez upset Athletic Bilbao when he sent off Amorebieta and gave Urzaiz
his fifth booking of the season, Mejuto González incurred the wrath of
both Villarreal and Celta for turning down penalty appeals by Baiano and Pires,
and our chart leader Velasco Carballo was given stick by Nàstic for
allowing Riga's goal to stand, despite the fact that he controlled the ball
with his hand and scored from an offside position. A normal weekend, really.
