A toss up for the white
stick award this week between Megia Dávila and Lizondo Cortés.
Megía upset the Athletic Bilbao fans when he awarded Barcelona's Thierry
Henry a penalty after he ran into keeper Gorka (who needed two stitches in his
lip), and then ruled that a shot from Touré had entered the net when
television pictures suggested it had bounced down off the bar on to the goal
line. And Lizondo made enemies of both sides in the match between Getafe and
Recreativo, sending off local defender Cotelo after a bit of play acting from
Sinama-Pongolle, and turning down a penalty appeal from the French striker and
then ruling out a goal by Uche. Sinama and coach Víctor were also shown
red cards for protesting. A word as well for fourth official Gorostegui
Fernández, who had his 80 minutes or so of fame in the match between
Zaragoza and Racing after Delgado Ferreira pulled up with an injury early on.
