"Así, así,
así gana Madrid" used to be the chant when referees appeared to be
helping Real Madrid during times in the past when the central government
supported the club. But with the current socialist president a fan of
Barcelona, some fans think the song should be modified. Certainly there were
suggestions of that when Ayza Gámez waved away appeals from the
Almería players for offside after Henry opened the scoring for the
Blaugrana in the Nou Camp this weekend, and then when he turned down a penalty
appeal by the visitors and almost immediately awarded a much more dubious one
at the other end. Madrid keeper Iker Casillas was philosophical about it all
though, "sometimes it goes one way, sometimes the other, but it all evens out
at the end of the season". Well said young man, referees have a hard enough job
over here dealing with the positional offside rule and all that sort of thing
without accusations of international subterfuge! (30.10.07) |
