Iturralde and his infamous
linesman Rafa Guerrero picked the short straw this weekend, taking charge of
the always argumentative Sevilla versus Osasuna. The yellow cards flew up until
Josetxo picked up his second late on, but the game exploded when Iturralde
ruled that Javi García had handled the ball deliberately as he dived to
head clear at the feet of Chevantón. A second booking for García
and a penalty followed, which won the game for the locals and then provoked an
unsavoury brawl at the end of the game. To say the least the hand ball was
accidental, and the disciplinary committee cancelled the second booking on
appeal. The damage was done though, and the three points went to the locals.
All in all 14 yellows and two reds, plus another yellow and two reds at the
end. Not bad for a day's work! (29.01.08) |
