No doubt about the
refereeing decision which got most coverage this week! Unless you happen to
live on a planet far. far away, you will undoubtedly have either seen or read
about Daudén Ibáñez's decision to rule out a goal by Real
Madrid's Robben and allow Getafe to take a quick free kick. The six Madrid
players celebrating down by the corner flag didn't realise what was going on
until too late, and then it was a Keystone Cops chase to try to stop Uche from
scoring what proved to be the winning goal. Nobody (except maybe technical
director Mijatovic) criticised Daudén though: Raúl was clearly in
an offside position when he intervened in the build up, and Belenguer was
within his rights to take the quick free kick after the referee had given him
the ok. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth, but the result throws the league
title race wide open once again! (26.02.08)
PS Congrats to Clos
Gómez, the first referee to pass the hundred card mark this season in
our chart. |
