After the clashes between
players in the weekend league game, the cup semi-final between Racing and
Getafe was always going to be tense. And things blew up near the end when
Getafe scored a late goal which assured them of an aggregate 3-1 victory. Local
defender Garay fell injured in the build up play, and Uche, seeing that the
injury looked serious, asked for his colleagues to put the ball out of play.
But Albín ignored him and passed across for Casquero to score, setting
off a final few minutes in which tackles were high, with players jostling each
other on the pitch after the final whistle. Referee Muñiz
Fernández didn't stop play at the time though, and once again there was
much debate about whether players should take the law into their own hands if
the officials don't. (25.03.08) |
