Our apologies if this
section is becoming a monologue about Osasuna, but once more they were in the
news thanks to some questionable refereeing decisions. Real Madrid, Betis and
Getafe were all awarded penalties in their respective matches after the ball
hit a defender on the arm, but Velasco Carballo didn't want to know when
Mallorca's Borja Valero clearly blocked Miguel Flaño's shot with his
elbow inside the area near the end of the game. Seconds later Trejo left
Juanfran sprawled on the ground with a heavy tackle, play went up the other end
and Trejo turned in Valero's cross to win the match. The final whistle went
soon afterwards and the Osasuna players turned on their opponents, demanding
why they didn't put the ball out of play for the injured player. Moments like
that can define a season, and the Pamplona based side stay in the relegation
zone as a result with only two games left to go. (10.05.08) |
