Double work for referees
this week, with the cup competition being played midweek throughout the month
of January. Clos Gómez upset Valencia when he awarded a penalty to their
opponents Racing Santander and then sent off Vicente and Miguel, the full back
so incensed that he threatened to kill the linesman. Now that's a "10" on the
provocation scale! On Sunday it was Turienzo Alvarez's turn to fall out with
Betis after leaving them with nine men for the last quarter of the game against
Málaga, and also give the visitors an early penalty. Paco Chaparro's
comments were largely unprintable, but at least he didn't utter any death
threats! (13.01.09) |
