The defences of newly promoted sides can take some time to adapt to the pace of the top flight, and Tenerife suffered this weekend when they had two men sent off by Rubinos Pérez against Mallorca. The Canary Islanders did have cause to complain though after Rubinos turned down claims for a clear foul on keeper Sergio Aragoneses in the build up to Mallorca's opening goal. Xerez at least didn't have anyone sent off this weekend after picking up three red cards in their opening two games, although that was little consolation after Real Madrid put five past them!
