Rookie referee Estrada Fernández made his debut in the Bernabeu stadium, and he was the object of criticism by visitors Almería after awarding a hotly disputed penalty to Real Madrid when Cristiano Ronaldo fell under a challenge from Diego Alves. Alves claimed he got the ball, and he and his side were further upset when Benzema drilled home the rebound having started from a position two yards inside the area (albeit that there were two or three defenders in the area as well when Ronaldo took the kick). Estrada is actually from Catalunya, and the last time a Catalan refereed at the ground the then Madrid coach Bernd Schuster complained about the fact when some bad decisions went against his team. Curiously this time nobody asked in the press conference where Estrada was from! (08.12.09)
