Sporting Gijón were not happy with Rubinos Pérez after he awarded an early penalty to opponents Sevilla on Tuesday evening, sending off Eguren in to the bargain. The foul itself was questionable, but there was also a doubt about whether a Sevilla player was offside or not in the build up. Whatever the case, Sevilla went on to score the penalty and win 3-0, leaving the Asturians down in the bottom three. The following day Iturralde González upset Valencia when he ruled out a goal by Jordi Alba against Barcelona for a borderline offside. Barça went on to win the game 0-1.
