Espanyol were not happy with
Iglesias Villanueva and his linesman this weekend when they disallowed a
perfectly good goal by Osvaldo against Hércules for a non-existent
offside. The match ended 0-0 and the Catalans drop out of the European spots as
a result. Otherwise there were not too many controversial incidents, although
Estrada Fernández had some problems to deal with in the Monday night
game between Zaragoza and Getafe, which was already bad tempered before
kick-off after Getafe threatened to ask for their opponents to be relegated for
non payment of around 1 million as part of the Uche transfer fee. Things
turned ugly near the end when, with the locals winning 2-1, play was
interrupted several times by balls being thrown on to the pitch from the home
team dugout and from the stands. A big fine was expected, but in the end it
only worked out at 602. Not bad for ensuring three points, although to be
fair to the Maños, coach Javier Aguirre said he was very embarrassed
about the incident. (14.04.11) |
