White Stick Awards

So that's it then, a dramatic end to the season, but the final results decided on merit rather than controversial refereeing decisions. Chapeau to the men-in-black! Our leader (and subsequently "White Stick" award winner) Muñiz Fernández got what proved to be the key match between Deportivo and Valencia, the visitors winning 0-2 to send Depor down to the second division for the first time in twenty years. Muñiz did turn down a half-hearted penalty appeal by Adrián early in the second half, but otherwise the only doubt was the length of time he allowed the match to go on, the locals still in with a chance of an equalising goal and survival until Soldado finished them off in the fifth minute of the four minutes of time added on (if you see what we mean).
