The new season is under way, and we have two changes on the refereeing front, with Ramírez Domínguez hanging up his whistle after reaching the obligatory retirement age of 46, and Rubinos Pérez effectively doing so as well after being relegated to the second division, where the retirement age is lower. They have been replaced by Carlos De Cerro Grande, and by Pedro Jesús Pérez Montero, who has already been "baptised" in the game between Mallorca and Espanyol (without causing too much noise!). Fernández Borbolán tops our chart after pulling out the short straw to referee the bad tempered Super Cup second leg between Barcelona and Real Madrid, with Iglesias Villanueva second after showing eight yellow cards in the game between Getafe and Levante. One that got away from him though was a possible booking for Aranda, who controlled the ball with his arm in the build up to Levante's equaliser. Neither Iglesias nor his linesman saw it, and the goal was allowed to stand. (31.08.11)
