Spain's referee for next summer's Euro 2012 finals will be Carballo Velasco, it was revealed this week. Carballo has had a busy week which sees him up to second place in our rankings, with seven yellow cards in the midweek cup tie between San Roque and Sevilla, and ten yellows and a red in the Sunday league game between Racing Santander and Real Sociedad. It is probably not a good idea right now to ask Real's Iñigo Martínez what he thinks of that - his opinion is in any case written down clearly in Carballo's match report after he sent him off, "You have been lamentable all the match. Go on, write it down, write it down, I don't care". He did. We're in for another hot summer! (20.12.11)
