Paradas Romero let Deportivo back into the game against Barcelona at the Riazor stadium when he awarded them a very questionable penalty. Barça were three up at the time, but when Riki fell over Mascherano's legs just outside of the area the referee had no doubt pointing to the spot. To a certain extent the visitors were grateful that he didn't give the defender a yellow card, which would have been his second, although Mascherano was sent off early in on in the second half for a rigorous second booking, and Paradas also awarded Depor a dubious free kick which Pizzi also scored from. In the end though Barça still won, so they didn't make too much noise about it. Elsewhere Fernando Teixeira Vitienes returned from three weeks in the cooler to take charge of the game between Espanyol and Rayo, and he was faced with a tricky decision when Héctor Moreno cleared Leo's header as it was going in to the net. In the end though he awarded the goal, and it looked as if he got it right as the ball appeared to cross the line before Moreno's clearance. The red cards for Labaka and Colotto also seemed correct, although there was some doubt whether Stuani was offside when he headed a last gasp winner. (24.10.12)
