Mallorca were on track for a much needed win on Saturday until referee Fernando Teixeira Vitienes blew them out of the water. The islanders were one up when Teixeira awarded opponents Getafe a non-existent penalty with twenty minutes to go for what he considered to be a hand ball by Nunes. Diego Castro converted the spot kick and Getafe went on to win 1-3, but Mallorca appealed the yellow card that Nunes received, showing video evidence not only that the ball actually hit his chest, but also that he had his hands behind his back to avoid any hand contact (!), and the booking was cancelled. The result of course stands though, and Mallorca drop further in to the relegation zone as a result.
Zaragoza ended this weekend just a couple of points above the bottom three, but they too were hard done by when referee Del Cerro Grande allowed a come-back goal by Jonas to stand, even though Soldado was in a clear offside position when he stepped over the ball to allow his colleague to score. The match ended 2-2, and there was further controversy when Del Cerro disallowed an injury time strike by Postiga for what he considered to be a previous foul on the keeper. A decision which could have gone either way to be honest, but it did cost the Maños two vital points. (27.02.13)
