It's not just Spanish referees who make mistakes it seems, our boys having had some problems in Europe this season as well. Barcelona were the latest to suffer at the hands of Hungary's Viktor Kassai, the first three of Bayern Munich's four goals in their Champions League semi-final all questionable. That doesn't detract from the fact that the Bundesliga team were the better on the night, and they could have had a couple of penalties themselves after Piqué and Alexis both handled in the area.
Back to Spain though, and Clos Gómez had a bit of a stinker in the match between Málaga and Getafe, ruling out a first half strike by Isco for a non-existent offside, but then missing a penalty at the other end when Weligton blocked Lopo's shot with his arm near the end. It all works out in the wash though, we suppose!
Elsewhere Muñiz Fernández awarded a penalty to Levante against Celta when Acquafresca went down in the area, but looking at the action replay it seemed the striker just slipped on the wet surface! The disciplinary committee agreed, letting Jonny Castro off the yellow card he got in the incident, and also cancelling a booking which Muñiz gave to Aspas for what he considered to be a dive in the other area. In any case Barkero was obviously so embarrassed about the penalty decision that he fired his spot-kick wide.... (30.04.13) .
