With the end of season approaching, referees' decisions came make the difference between success or failure. The relegation battle in particular is very close this year, and Deportivo felt they were hard done by when Ayza Gámez turned down two penalty appeals, the second in the last minute of the match against Atlético Madrid when Juanfran appeared to handle the ball in the area. Atleti felt they should have been awarded a goal as well though when Turan's centre entered the net, although there was some doubt as to whether Miranda had got a foot to the ball, with Godín positionally offside.

It's a pity for Depor that Fernando Texeira Vitienes wasn't in charge though. The elder of the two brothers currently topping our chart awarded a more than dubious penalty to Zaragoza for a hand-ball that only he saw. Apoño gratefully converted the spot kick, and the Maños went on to beat Rayo Vallecano 3-0. The disciplinary committee overturned the yellow card that Teixeira showed to Jordi Figueras, but it was all too much for Rayo coach Paco Jémez, who got so steamed up about it that he had abit of a nasty turn, and in the end he was forced to go and have a lie-down!
