Both Teixeira Vitienes brothers were in action this weekend, with the more senior Fernando overtaking last season's White Stick Award winner José Antonio at the top of our chart after showing ten yellow cards in the match between Atlético Madrid and Mallorca. José Antonio only managed one yellow and a red in the final game at the old San Mamés stadium, and with Fernando being given the Levante - Betis fixture next weekend and the younger sibling left at home, it looks like we already have a winner this year! Ah well, at least the award stays in the family!

Luckily there were no major incidents on the penultimate weekend of the season, although Real Sociedad were probably favoured by González González against Real Madrid, even though the Basque side complained about some borderline offside decisions. González did award them a penalty kick though, and in the last minute he allowed Xabi Prieto's equaliser to stand, even though television pictures suggested that he handled the ball as it was going over the line. The draw improved Real's hopes of a Champions League spot, and if they win and Valencia draw their last games then the San Sebastian based team will edge it. (29.05.13)
