José Antonio Teixeira Vitienes has got his own back on his big brother Fernando, the younger sibling walking away with our “White Stick” award this year. Last season Fernando pipped José Antonio at the death after producing a late run of red and yellow cards, but this year there was no doubt as J.A. waltzed to his second trophy. Neither brother featured in the last round of matches though, cup final referee Mateu Lahoz given the big one in the Nou Camp as well. Whether he was correct to rule out Messi’s strike for offside has been the subject of much debate in the media this week (did an Atlético defender play him onside or not?), but that is all academic now as Simeone’s team got the draw they needed to take the title.
