Espanyol complained that they are being hard done-by by referees this season, the latest incident coming in the Saturday night game when their opponents Málaga were awarded a questionable last minute free kick by Iglesias Villanueva which led to the equalizer. The visitors pointed out that the free kick which the Catalans scored from minutes earlier was also dubious, but after Arbilla was harshly sent off in the first weekend, penalty claims were turned down in the second and Sergio García had a good goal disallowed in the third, they are rightfully aggrieved. Elsewhere Elche were also upset that rookie referee Jaime Latre just didn’t want to give them a penalty in the Friday night match against Eibar, even though Jonathas and Cristian Herrera were physically bundled over either side of half time, and there were a couple of other claims later on. I mean, what do you have to do, kill someone? (23.09.14)
