Clos Gómez clearly upset Carlo Ancelotti this weekend, the Real Madrid coach picking up a two game ban after the referee reported him for his “ironic applause” at the end of the match. What Don Carlo was complaining about is not that obvious however, although the referee probably should have shown a second yellow to Valencia’s Gayà for giving away the penalty on Bale, and not to Chicharito Hernández for asking his opponent to be booked! Pepe could also have been sent off for a second bookable offence in the second half though after he caught Negredo in the face, so it all evens out in the wash.

Elsewhere Deportivo felt hard done by after Gil Manzano ruled out what appeared to be a perfectly good goal by Alex Bergantiños in Bilbao, although justice was probably served in the end thanks to Lopo’s last gasp equalizer. And Getafe were not happy about Pérez Montero disallowing a Juan Rodríguez header for a questionable offside in the Monday night derby game against Rayo when the result was still in the balance. Both Depor and Getafe are not out of the woods yet, and those decisions may end up being very costly. (14.05.15)
