González González may have cost Real Madrid two points when he ruled out an Isco strike late on, ruling that Modric was offside in the build-up. He also waved away appeals for a goal a few minutes earlier when Welligton cleared another effort from Isco as the ball was crossing the line. Both were marginal decisions though, and television pictures suggested that he was right in the second case, but not in the first. That match ended 0-0 as did the Basque derby between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad. Athletic were unhappy though with referee Velasco Carballo, who turned down two first half penalty appeals for hand balls by Diego Reyes and Illarramendi, the latter in particular quite blatant. That’s football! (30.09.15)
