A lot to talk about this weekend, starting with Martínez Munuera’s stout resolve not to give Sevilla a penalty whatever happened! The referee turned down three good appeals, one before the break when Eibar’s Escalante handled in the area, and two more after the restart when Gameiro and Konoplyanka were brought down. Hernández Hernández though did just the opposite, awarding a penalty to Málaga against Valencia for hands even though the ball quite clearly hit Aderlan Santos on the chest. Ah well, Domenech saved the spot-kick, so no harm done in the end! Elsewhere Iglesias Villanueva and Alvarez Izquierdo raced to the top of our rankings, the former showing no less than fourteen yellow cards and two reds in the match between Real Sociedad and Atlético, and the latter eleven yellows and three reds in the Monday night thriller between Sporting and Granada. And we were starting to think that our men-in-black (or whatever colour it is they wear these days) had gone soft! (21.10.15)
