Jaime Latre was in the spotlight this weekend in the Saturday evening game between Valencia and Barcelona, more for the decisions he didn’t make than those he did. As well as turning down a couple of penalty appeals at each end, he allowed the opening goal to stand, despite appeals from the locals that Luis Suárez set off from an offside position to score. To be fair to the referee though it was a hairline ruling, and even the TV punters couldn’t agree after hundreds of slow motion replays. More importantly however he took no action when Suárez stamped on Abdennour’s foot shortly befre the goal, and although the Uruguayan striker claimed it was an accident, it did look pretty deliberate on camera. Luisito up to his old tricks? (10.12.15)
