Real Madrid were pretty upset at Martínez Munuera this weekend when he turned down two reasonable penalty claims by Ronaldo and Benzema in the first half of their game at Betis. In the end though he favoured them as well, allowing Benzema’s equalizer to stand even though James was marginally offside in the build up, and then waving away another penalty appeal by Dani Ceballos. Barcelona were also given a helping hand by Clos Gómez, who turned a blind eye to a probable offside by Luis Suárez when he set up Munir for the opener at Málaga. On the other hand Melero López disallowed a Lucas Pérez strike for offside when he wasn’t in Depor’s game against Valencia. All close calls, but titles have be won and lost for less! (28.01.16)
