We’re getting down to the nifty-gritty end of the season, and Real Madrid stay in the title race thanks in part to Fernández Borbolán, who allowed Benzema’s goal against Valencia to stand even though the striker was over a yard offside in the build-up. What would have happened had the goal been disallowed is anybody’s guess – there was still over half of the game remaining – but Madrid won 3-2 in the end to remain a point behind leaders Barcelona.
