Estrada Fernández probably cost Betis a point in this Tuesday’s big derby match at Sevilla, the referee ruling out a late strike by Alex Alegría forr a non-existent offside at the behest of his linesman. Sevilla went on to secure bragging rights with a 1-0 win. Complaints by Real Madrid as well against González González (see also our “Villains” section for more), the referee turning down a late penalty appeal for a foul by Víctor Ruíz on Benzema. The game finished 1-1, bringing to an end Madrid’s record run of sixteen league games in a row. (23.09.16)
