A couple of close calls this weekend which may affect the bottom of the table come the end of the season! On Saturday lunchtime Undiano Mallenco disallowed a late strike by Deportivo’s Babel at Granada for a more than dubious offside decision, the match ending 1-1 between two teams fighting to avoid the drop. And later in the evening rookie referee Ocón Arráiz awarded a penalty to Alavés against Osasuna for a foul by David García on Theo Hernández which appeared to be just outside of the area, Christian Santos converting the kick to give the visitors a 0-1 win. Poor old Messi was a bit miffed at Jaime Latre on Sunday as well when a hard tackle by N’Zonzi took his boot right off. When Messi tried to put it back on sitting on the pitch the referee told him to move to the sidelines first, and when he protested he got himself booked! Luckily his subsequent tantrum, boot throwing included, came to nothing, but Barça were down to ten men for a couple of minutes or so, which surely penalized the wrong side! (07.11.16)
