There was a lot of criticism this weekend aimed at Mateu Lahoz when he failed to send off Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas for taking out Betis midfielder Brasanac as he advanced on goal midway through the first half of their Sunday evening game. Navas did seem to get a head to the ball after he came out of his area, but it was a rash tackle, and the keeper was lucky to stay on the park. Needless to say many of the complaints came from Barcelona, although they themselves were greatly favoured midweek by German referee Denis Aytekin in the Champions League tie with Paris Saint Germain, so much so that there were appeals for the match to be replayed. Where did the majority of those appeals come from? Madrid of course! It’s all part of the game over here! (15.03.17)
