Must be the fact that we have a two week break coming up, but referees were generally in a benevolent mood this weekend. Nobody really protested too much about the three players who were sent off (any more than normal, at least), and there were usual penalty claims turned down, goals ruled out for borderline offsides and the like, but nothing to hit the headlines. As things stand Estrada Fernández (who refereed the Sporting v Granada game) and Gil Manzano (Atlético v Sevilla) are favourites to take our “White Stick” award this season, but there is still almost a third of a season to go...
