Hmmm, not a lot of peace and goodwill to all men around here then! Referees dished out a season high nine red cards in the last round of games of the year, with Jaime Latre showing three as well as thirteen yellows, and Trujillo Suárez two and twelve cautions, and Munuera Montero three and three. The man in the spotlight though was of course Sánchez Martínez, the referee in charge of the latest “clásico” on Saturday, and he failed to spot a blatant punch by Sergio Ramos on Luis Suárez before the break which Sonny Liston would have been proud of. No question though about the red card he did give to Dani Carvajal for stopping the ball from going in with his hand, and apart from the odd penalty appeal he didn’t have that much to do. (27.12.17)
