That’s it for this season, and our “White Stick” award goes to Munuera Montero, who just pipped Sánchez Martínez thanks to his five yellow cards in the last game of the weekend between Barcelona and Real Sociedad. This year two of our men in black, Fernández Borbolán and Alvarez Izquierdo, are hanging up their whistles after reaching the maximum age of 45, although both will apparently still be around as they will be asked to take over VAR duties when the video assisted system is introduced to La Liga next season. Now that’s going to be real fun! We’ll get a chance to see it though in the upcoming World Cup, and we wish all the best to Mateo Lahoz, Spain’s representative over in Russia. See you all at the end of August! (21.05.18)
