The Var system influenced two games (at least) this weekend, overturning incorrect decisions by referees. Valencia picked up a much needed win at Getafe thanks to a penalty which De Burgos Bengoetxea hadn’t at first spotted, the ruling when it came also resulting in Bruno getting sent off. And Atlético beat Athletic 3-2 thanks to a last gasp header from Godín which was at first ruled out by Sánchez Martínez for a non-existent offside. There was still some doubt though as to whether Griezmann should have been penalised for a dangerously high kick in the build-up, but Sánchez decided that was OK, which was probably what sparked off Yuri for his red card – see “Villains” section for more on that!
