Diego Costa should know by now that referees in Spain are very sensitive about their mothers, but oh no, he just had to suggest that Gil Manzano’s dear mum was a member of the world’s oldest profession after he refused to give the striker a free kick with half an hour gone in the game against Barcelona! Afterwards Costa tried to suggest that he was referring to his own mother (bet she was happy about that!), but it seems that the referee’s microphone picked up the real insult, and confirmed Gil’s version. To make matters worse the Atlético striker grabbed the referee, which according to the ref’s report was to try to stop him from booking a couple of other players, and all of that meant an eight match ban (four for each offence), and the end of the season for him. Will he never learn? (09.04.19)
